Telangana @ 2047… A Marvel in the Making!

Can you even imagine? As soon as this question arises in our minds, our imagination takes flight. But transforming those dreams into a structured vision document has been accomplished by Revanth Reddy’s government in Telangana. With the title “Telangana Rising – 2047”, the government has prepared a grand master plan, filled with astonishing elements that make one wonder — can Telangana really transform like this?

Chief Minister Revanth Reddy is heading to Delhi on May 24 to attend a NITI Aayog meeting, where he is set to unveil this vision document before Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The central BJP government has already declared its aim of making India the world’s top country by 2047 under the banner of “Viksit Bharat”. Revanth Reddy believes Telangana should play a crucial role in realizing that national dream.

In an effort to impress Modi and to secure funding, Revanth has linked his state’s vision document with the national Viksit Bharat vision. However, the Telangana Rising – 2047 vision stands out on its own as a remarkable initiative. According to this document, the Telangana government has strategically divided the entire state into three zones for planned development:

  1. Core Urban Telangana
  2. Urban Telangana
  3. Regional Telangana

Core Urban Telangana refers to areas within the Outer Ring Road (ORR) of Hyderabad. Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) have already been prepared for Metro Rail Phase 2 expansions — covering stretches like Jubilee Bus Station to Shamir pet, Jubilee Bus Station to Medchal, Falak Numa to Airport, and Airport to the proposed “Fourth City.” Another key project in this core area is the revival of the Musi River, aimed at enhancing Hyderabad’s beauty and public health. Even though it’s technically outside the ORR, the Fourth City, envisioned as a net-zero (zero pollution) city, is a critical element of this vision.

Urban Telangana covers the area between the ORR and the proposed RRR. Plans include developing radial roads and transforming this zone into a pharma and manufacturing hub. In the Regional Telangana zone, the focus is on agriculture — establishing agri-based industries, agricultural industrial parks, processing units, and pushing toward agri-industrialization. Moreover, under the banner of Young India, the vision proposes new universities, colleges, sports universities, and skill development centers — all aiming to reshape the socio-economic landscape of the state.

CM Revanth Reddy plans to present this entire framework at the NITI Aayog meeting and urge the central government to provide financial support and necessary approvals. To be honest, the vision document crafted with Revanth Reddy’s ideas is quite impressive. However, financial feasibility remains a significant concern. It won’t be easy to get full support from the Centre, and achieving these goals with only the state’s revenue is nearly impossible. Recognizing this, the government is considering the formation of a Telangana Rising Vision Board to facilitate the execution of the plan.

The vision is impressive… but the big question is — where will the money come from?
