A New Era? Lokesh Poised to Lead Mahanadu

After the TDP’s remarkable victory in the 2024 elections, all eyes are now on Nara Lokesh as the party gears up for the upcoming Mahanadu. Will Lokesh now take complete charge of this key event? Until recently, he was only partially involved in its organization, but indications from party circles suggest he is now ready to take full leadership. Lokesh is said to be preparing to introduce sweeping reforms within the party to suit the changing times, and Mahanadu 2025 may become the launchpad for this transformation.

Typically, discussions around Mahanadu focus more on the menu than the party’s direction. Food items at the event often generate more media and social media buzz than the actual political deliberations. However, Lokesh reportedly wants to change this narrative. He has clearly conveyed to party seniors that Mahanadu should be a platform for serious policy discussions—not just a celebratory gathering, but one that lays a strong ideological foundation for the party’s next 40 years.

The Mahanadu, which is to be held in Kadapa, is expected to be a highly significant event. It is being seen as a venue where bold and potentially difficult decisions will be made for the party’s future. As part of this process, the party may sideline some senior leaders, particularly those who have held the same position for three consecutive terms. They may face either a demotion or a shift to a new role. Lokesh is said to be applying these rules to himself as well—demonstrating his commitment to internal reforms and renewal.

Lokesh is also reportedly focusing seriously on six key areas: women’s empowerment, farmer welfare, youth engagement, cadre welfare, social justice, and poverty eradication. Inspired by the foundational ideals of his grandfather N.T. Rama Rao, and following in the footsteps of his father Chandrababu Naidu’s vision-driven leadership, Lokesh is crafting a new ideological slogan for the party. This new slogan is expected to give the TDP a fresh identity and reposition the party in a more contemporary context.

These six focus areas will likely form the backbone of a well-structured action plan to be unveiled during the Mahanadu. Some of the policy announcements may even cause a stir, according to internal sources within the party. All in all, the Mahanadu—being held for the first time in Kadapa—is poised to clearly showcase Lokesh’s mark of leadership. His influence and ideas will be unmistakable, as he positions himself not just as the future of TDP, but as the force driving its ideological and organizational evolution.
